Fresh and delicious chicken shawarma bowls using all Trader Joe’s ingredients! This light and flavorful meal is is so easy.
I’ve recently discovered all the glorious marinated meats at Trader Joe’s. In the past this was always something I’d just walk on by. However, after I took the time to really look at each and every one I realized there are so many good options. So far I’ve tried the pollo asada, carne asada, and pesto chicken. They’re super convenient for week-night dinners. Also, for cooking ahead of time for meal prepped lunches. Last week I finally gave these chicken shawarma thighs a try! The instructions give a bake and grill option. I decided to bake mine and they came out super juicy and tender. I was impressed with how flavorful this chicken turned out.
Other Trader Joe’s marinated meats I recommend:
- Pollo Asada
- Pesto genovese chicken breast
- Balsamic rosemary steak tips
- Harissa chicken thighs
- Carne Asada
A delicious bowl seemed like a great way to use these chicken thighs. I used Trader Joe’s chickpea and red lentil risoni as the base. However, you could use rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice. It all depends on what you prefer! Then I loaded it with the sliced chicken thighs, Trader Joe’s tzatziki, crumbled feta, olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, fresh dill and lots of lemon! These chicken shawarma bowls was one of the most refreshing meals that I had in a while.
This meal is super easy to throw together. It would also make a great prep ahead lunch! Click here for my favorite meal prep containers. In the summertime I’m always craving fresh meals like this. So this one will definitely be on rotation for my lunch menu.

*the chicken shawarma comes in all different weights. If you’re serving more people I’d go for a larger weight.
