Oven baked chicken wings smothered in a sweet and tangy raspberry BBQ sauce – only a few simple ingredients to make this yummy appetizer!
With the super bowl coming – I figured it was the perfect time to create some delicious wing recipes. This recipe is about as simple as it gets – just some oven baked wings seasoned with salt and pepper and some BBQ sauce mixed with raspberry jam. I used Tessemae’s BBQ sauce ( I get it at Whole Foods ) because there’s no added sugar and it’s just delicious – but use whatever BBQ sauce you desire. There’s really no way to mess this recipe up. My husband actually said it’s his favorite thing I ever made 🙂
I got my wings from Butcher Box. They came split and like all of Butcher Box meats – they were great quality. If you’re unfamiliar with Butcher Box – it’s meat delivery service that sends you monthly (or however much as you choose) good quality meat. You choose whatever you want! Right now they’re running a deal, when you sign up you get 2 lbs. of wild caught salmon for FREE. Click here to sign up! We’ve been loving it – anything that helps me avoid the grocery store, I’m in!
PrintBaked Raspberry BBQ Chicken Wings
Ingredients
2.5 lbs. split chicken wings
1/4 cup raspberry jam
3/4 cup BBQ sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
chopped green onion for garnish, optional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Take a large baking sheet and top it with a baking rack (baking the wings on the rack gets them crispier)
Rinse your chicken wings and pat them dry. Toss them in a bowl with the olive oil, salt and pepper.
Place each chicken wing on on the baking rack topped baking sheet in a single layer. Do not over crowd the wings.
Bake them for 25 minutes, flip each wing over and bake another 20-25 minutes.
With about 10 minutes left of baking time – combine the bbq sauce and raspberry jam in a sauce pan over medium low heat. Whisk the sauce frequently to make it smooth.
When the wings are done baking you can either drizzle the raspberry bbq sauce on top and toss them or take tongs and add the wings to the sauce pan and combine them until they’re fully coated.
Top wings with chopped green onion if desired, serve immediately!
